There's hope...
I am committed to helping individuals and those in recovery find hope while navigating life transitions, communication issues, core beliefs, trauma, marital concerns, and goal setting. I am dedicated to providing compassionate care to those concerned about a loved one's substance use and how to help strengthen the family relationship.
After spending nine years in the admissions office at a faith-based residential treatment facility, and speaking to thousands of individuals seeking help for addiction, I was inspired to pursue my counseling degree. I graduated from Moody Theological Seminary and Graduate School and completed my internship at Intersessions Counseling Center. I have experience working with adults and couples, and I'm trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1.
As a clinician with training in CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training,) SMART(Self Management and Recovery Training) Standard and Family and Friends Groups, and the Invitation to Change Approach, I'm encouraged to bring hope back and help families find ways to build bridges instead of barriers to better understand one another.
I have heard the concerns of families and friends seeking help for loved ones, and I've also spoken with individuals seeking treatment who are sometimes frustrated by the approach used by those trying to help. There are many conventional schools of thought around addiction that reinforce detachment. I'm encouraged by the evidence-based approaches that show it is possible to create lasting systemic change without ultimatums or detachment, while taking good care of yourself.
In my work, I incorporate Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing. I also offer Christian integration for those desiring a biblical response to addiction.
